About the Artist

Bill Allen created BillzBuildz in 2020 at the onset of the COVID pandemic. A passion for metalworking that started with welding pieces of junk metal together has grown into complex themes of movement, architecture, and nature that is rooted in his pieces. Bill is trained in the architectural profession and brings his technical and visionary skills into his work as a sculptor, and vice versa.

For Bill, designing and building sculptures allows a form of low stakes artistic freedom that is hard to achieve elsewhere. He enjoys making sculptures one after another in a way that allows an idea to grow and evolve, manifesting itself in different ways across different pieces. Bill is fascinated by the ways steel can both represent heaviness and lightness and finds the structural freedoms of the material a source of beauty.

Bill is constantly growing his knowledge and capabilities as a metalworker and is always seeking new challenges and clients. The single most important goal of his work is to instill feelings of joy and curiosity into spaces in a way only art can do.
